The Complete Jane Austen











Engish 10HP students read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice this spring.
On TV, three Jane Austen movies will be shown:
Persuasion on Sunday, Jan 13th at 8:00 p.m. repeated Friday, January 17th at 8:00 p.m.
Northanger Abbey on Sunday, January 20th at 8:00 p.m. repeated Friday, January 25th at 8:00 p.m.Mansfield Park on Sunday, January 27th at 8:00 p.m. repeated Friday, February 1st at 8:00 p.m.
Each movie can be watched for 10 extra credit points for this trimester or spring trimester.
Tape the movies and watch at a later time.

I need Puritan bonnets for the females and Puritan hats for the men when we read The Crucible. I want 20 female and 10 male so everyone in the room will have a hat. You can make one or many out of material or construction paper or another way I have not thought of< but your creativity will think of.

Extra Credit

After the rules are selected for each class, students can turn in a violation form in a black box against other students who break one of the rules.
I need four volunteers (one per each hour 3-6) to make a black box about the size of a shoe box and mark it Hour 3 or Hour 4 or Hour 5 or Hour 6.
The first person to volunteer in each hour will be given 10 extra credit points when they bring the black box, which is due on Monday, January 14th.

Finish Brochure


1. Computer Room for brochure, which is due on Thursday, January 9th.
2. Select a Puritan name (Biblical or virtue like Patience, Purity)
3. Select a judge to preside over the trial of offenses committed in your hour
4. Choose 3 rules to follow in class while reading The Crucible. Offender can be reported and prosecuted.

Brochure and Intro to The Crucible


On Friday the webquest was due.
1. Lab 316 to work on brochure, which is due on Thursday, January 10th.
2. We will pick the reading parts for The Crucible on Thursday and start reading the play.
3. Before we start:
· Puritan rules for this classroom enforced during the reading of the play
· Select a Puritan judge for the trial of offenses committed during class
· Select a Puritan name based on a virtue, e.g. Patience or a Biblical name
4. Make-up Fragment, Comma and Colon Tests after school.

Welcome Back!

It's hard getting out of bed again and returning to school!
Today we worked in lab 313 to work on the Web Quest Study Guide on The Crucible, which is due on Friday.
Tomorrow, I will introduce the brochure assignment on background information for The Crucible. Plan on choosing one person in the room to work with on the brochure.
